Stargazing Event in Las Meloneras, Gran Canaria

Calling all stargazing enthusiasts in Gran Canaria! On Sunday 6th December 2009 in Las Meloneras there are activities planned for astronomical observation near the lighthouse. The event is organized by "Museo Elder" science museum of Las Palmas, Culture Department of the City of San Bartolome de Tirajana, the Tourist Board of the Canary Islands Government and the SEPTENIO programme."La Fiesta de Las Estrellas" will run from 10.00 to 23.00 hours with educational workshop activities for 6-14 year olds. Not only a night time event, there will also be some solar observations, which will be done using special filters.
At 19:00 hours there will be an astronomy lecture aimed at over 14's and observations of the sky will begin at dusk with telescopes. All in all this is a great family activity for the long Bank Holiday weekend.
