TARA Animal Respect Association is a non-profit organisation based in the South of Gran Canaria.  It helps abandoned animals by rehoming them, rescuing them from terrible situations and also getting to the route of the problem by educating in schools and the community.  They have an amazing charity shop in Arguineguin, which always has some weird and wonderful things and a great range of books.

As this important charity has no funding from the Canarian government they need as much help as they can get and they have organised some events in the community.  Every Saturday in Plaza de Pino Seco, Arguineguin at 9am TARA have a rastro or car boot sale to raise funds.  There were many different stalls last week when we visited and it is sure to gain popularity with locals in the bid to find a bargain and help the animals at the same time.

TARA have also planned a Christmas event on the 19th December 2009 in popular showbar Barbacoa, which is in C.C Europa in Puerto Rico.  It is a ticket event at 10€ and that includes a buffet and 4 live shows, it should be a really fun night and will also include some raffles with prizes such as a stay in a top Gran Canaria hotel.  Tickets are available from TARA Charity Shop in Calle Tanausu, Arguineguin so pop down to see them for this fantastic Christmas Night Out for a great cause.
