Carnival Dates for Gran Canaria

The island's capital of Las Palmas have started off Carnival Season with a bang. Shiny costume - check, outrageous makeup - check! Let your hair down and participate in the fiestas to come. Obviously being the capital, Carnival de Las Palmas is going to be the big one. There is also a major one in Maspalomas which attracts tourists and locals alike.

In the smaller municipios there are also Carnivals but you may have to keep an eye out for posters slapped everywhere for them, if not I am sure you will find out here ;)

You don't have to live in Gran Canaria to take part, everybody is welcome to the celebration. If your holidays fall around the dates below, do try to check some of it out. More will be added to Gran Canaria Blog about the various fiestas including Carnival Queens, floats, costumes and loads more.

Carnival Queen: 5th February;

Drag Queen Competition: 12th February;

Burial of the Sardine: 20th February

Festival de Eurovision
Pregón (opening speech): 11th March;

Carnival Queen: 13th March;

Drag Queen Competition: 18th March;

Burial of the Sardine: 21th March
