Lidl Supermarkets To Open in Gran Canaria

Low cost supermarket chain Lidl have arrived in Gran Canaria at last. With 4 branches along the east to south coast of Gran Canaria, the German company is set to bring lower prices with high quality to the island.

After creating some buzz in local newspapers prior to Christmas and Reyes, Lidl have released their store opening dates on their Canaries site.
The nearest store to the south of the island is in Vecindario, then further up the coast you have stores in Agüimes, Ingenio and Telde.


Opening Dates:

Vecindario - 4th March 2010
Agüimes - 25th February 2010
Ingenio - 4th March 2010
Telde - 25th February 2010

Many locals are hoping Lidl's reputation for low prices will force other supermarkets to follow suit and reassess their prices.
